{Typical Day} April 10, 2014| A New Carseat

April 10, 2014

Today was your first day in the new car seat! Well, actually it’s your sister’s old carseat. We gave her the new one since she slobs a little less than you when given food in the car. But the exciting thing? You’re facing forward! Woohoo! We’ve been waiting for this moment, hoping you’ll stay happy a little longer now that you can see all of us and see where we’re going. So far, the jury’s out. It may have made a slight difference, but… you’re still just… loud. Oh well. You are also as full of smiles as you’ve ever been. I’ll take the noise that comes in the package with this face any day.

{Typical Day} April 6, 2014| Independence & Cuddles

April 6, 2014

You’re really into doing everything you’re way, in your own time these days, Adela. It’s fun watching you grow up and slowly acquire your independence in little things, but it can also be exhausting. Two phrases we hear an awful lot right now, “but I just don’t want to” and “but I just can’t do it.” Usually when we ask you to do things, you are more than happy to share your better way of doing it, or your better time to do it, or your different idea. You love telling me you “have an idea” also. Your ideas are cute, creative, and sometimes just a way of asking for something you want that you know I’m likely to say “no” to like, “I have an idea.” You wait for me to respond. “How about we watch TV?” You wanna do things yourself, like brushing your hair. You have a little purse in which you keep some lip gloss and and My Little Pony comb and brush. You will get your things out and do yourself up. And when you get out of the bath, you generally tell me, “No, I wanna do it,” when I grab the brush to de-tangle your hair. You are precious, girl.

Josiah, I asked Daddy to take pictures of me putting you to bed. And this is what we got. I just love you and your blanky (notice you’re holding the corner with the satin bow.) Apparently Daddy also had a blanky when he was a baby (so says Granny) that had satin edges he’d rub between his fingers. I love putting you to bed. You make it a joy with all your cuddles and all your cuteness. It’s also the only time you are quiet and still. It’s a much-needed respite for us, noisy boy.

{Typical Day} April 5, 2014| Trucks & Princesses

April 5, 2014

I know I’ve talked about your bankies before, but I don’t know that I’ve mentioned you have a new favorite. Like the kind of favorite that leaves you in tears if it’s not in your crib when we put you down. It’s one that your Tia Nena crocheted for you and it has little satin bows in the corners. You find the corner and rub it back and forth on your face to put yourself to sleep. And you rub it on mine too, with a big smile on your face, when I ask if you’ll “share” it with me. You get a kick out of watching me smile and say “so nice” when you rub it on my face. Such a sweet boy you are. You love sharing something you love so much with the people you love. So incredibly sweet.2014-April---Family-15-WEB

{Typical Day} April 3, 2014| Trucks & Princesses

April 3, 2014

You have not been immune to the Frozen craze. You and your sister will sit together on one of our big chairs and watch it together, at least until you lose interest. This week you’ve been seen with Elsa in hand quite a bit, but generally have a truck or a car in the other hand.
