{Typical Day} March 17, 2014 | Bohemian Rhapsody

{Typical Day} March 17, 2014

I’m always trying to think of ways to describe what makes you special, Adela. You are my little rainbow, vibrant, full of life. People call you bouncy when they meet you. They say you talk like a princess. You are a princess. A girly girl. Sweet and affectionate and lovely. You have your own mind, but are reasonable. You can be swayed. You are intuitive and sensitive and empathetic. You are unpredictable. You are beautiful and unexpected. My Bohemian Rhapsody. And I love to watch you dance.

And since I couldn’t put you in a dress and ask you to dance for me, you got to sit and watch, my Jo. Cute in all your boyishness. Don’t worry, I’ll be dressing you up in something at some point. You’re not off the hook. 😉

{Typical Day} March 14, 2014 | Hair Cut

You had your first electric hair cut today, Jo. I couldn’t take it anymore. If you had any curl or wave in your hair, I’d love to let it grow a bit and get a little unruly. But your hair so stick straight it that it rests on top of your ears and pokes you in the eye balls like little baby hair daggers. So off it came, and you look quite the tiny man now! I love it.

You are breaking me of any tendencies toward public embarrassment. I’m not easily embarrassed, but you, my son, can rattle even the most confident of mothers. You are so loud, and cute, throwing tantrums one second and 5 later, laughing hysterically. You’re a little whirlwind of noise and emotion everywhere you go. It’s incredibly entertaining and occasionally mortifying. I brought you about 10 different snack options to keep you happy both during your hair cut and during Daddy’s, who followed right after, but you refused to sit (refused to sit *quietly*) so I let you walk around with it so that you would be slightly less deafening, and you dropped absolutely everything on the hair-covered floor before consuming it and you prattled and toddled around, shrieking, laughing, and being you. Disgusting and cute. But mostly gross. But you survived, although you annoyed some patrons and made others laugh.

We got out of there as quick as we could, and which point, you promptly quieted down. That’s how it goes. I love you, Noisy.

{Typical Day} March 10, 2014 | The Park

March 10, 2014

Today was the day that Daddy got home after a very long week away, so we made the most of the afternoon and headed to the park to celebrate having our whole family back together and to enjoy almost-Spring, perfect desert weather.

Josiah, you’re little limp-wristed wave come out frequently these days. When you see me packing up our goin’ out bag, when you see a car drive by, when you hear the words “go” or “bye-bye.” You were waving at a motorcyclist driving through the parking lot at the park in the last photo here.
