You’re really into doing everything you’re way, in your own time these days, Adela. It’s fun watching you grow up and slowly acquire your independence in little things, but it can also be exhausting. Two phrases we hear an awful lot right now, “but I just don’t want to” and “but I just can’t do it.” Usually when we ask you to do things, you are more than happy to share your better way of doing it, or your better time to do it, or your different idea. You love telling me you “have an idea” also. Your ideas are cute, creative, and sometimes just a way of asking for something you want that you know I’m likely to say “no” to like, “I have an idea.” You wait for me to respond. “How about we watch TV?” You wanna do things yourself, like brushing your hair. You have a little purse in which you keep some lip gloss and and My Little Pony comb and brush. You will get your things out and do yourself up. And when you get out of the bath, you generally tell me, “No, I wanna do it,” when I grab the brush to de-tangle your hair. You are precious, girl.
Josiah, I asked Daddy to take pictures of me putting you to bed. And this is what we got. I just love you and your blanky (notice you’re holding the corner with the satin bow.) Apparently Daddy also had a blanky when he was a baby (so says Granny) that had satin edges he’d rub between his fingers. I love putting you to bed. You make it a joy with all your cuddles and all your cuteness. It’s also the only time you are quiet and still. It’s a much-needed respite for us, noisy boy.
