{Typical Day} January 18, 2014 | At Home

January 18, 2014

Adela, We spend a lot of time in the kitchen together, something I truly love to do with you. And you love it too. We bake and we cook. And you do whatever non-knife related jobs I can come up with. You dump the spices and snap the ends of beans. You count out pieces and cups. You stir. You have your own little apron, my kitchen buddy. I hope that these are memories that you will have forever, that you will say a love of cooking is something you got from me. This is another example of something I gained by you getting older. We worry about what we’re going to miss as our kids grow, but there is always something new and wonderful to replace the stages you outgrow.

Josiah, you like the kitchen too, but for another reason. You’re obsessed with the spice cabinet and emptying it’s contents.

{Typical Day} January 16, 2014 |Picking Up

January 16, 2014

Josiah, you are a fruit and veggie man. And sausage, oddly enough. You love it all. All fruits, all veggies. I’ve yet to find one you don’t like. Brussel sprouts, asparagus, broccoli, oranges, berries, EVERYthing, espcially if it’s green. Sometimes the only way to get you to eat meat (aside from sausages) is to mix the meat and the veggies together on your tray and hope that some finds it’s way in your mouth accidentally.

Today is the day that you finally, after about 8 months of crawling and 3 months of walking, you finally figured out how to go DOWN stairs. Hurray! Luckily, I had my camera with me and was able to capture it happening. We hung out by the chapel when we picked up your sister from school and played on the stairs. Your sister loves helping you, and even assisted you in walking down them. Not quite ready for walking down stairs on your own yet.

I love watching the two of you together. You really are good to each other. You make each other happy. Of course there is irritation every now and then, but really, it’s the exception. You like being around each other, and it’s a joy for me to watch.

{Typical Day} January 15, 2014 | Showers

January 15, 2014

Josiah, you have a thing for sticks of any kind. Batons, bits of trees, bark, spatulas, anything long and skinny that is hard enough to make a smacking noise when you hit it on things. You love brooms too. You’re old enough and mischievious enough now that I can’t let you out of my sight for long. If you need to shower when you’re awake, I keep you entertained in the bathroom (these are your sister’s play dough toys, not the ones we use to cook with in the kitchen.)
