June 2015 | PreK Graduation

That’s it, big girl. Two years of a couple half days a week and you’re done with Preschool. I’m so proud of you and all you’ve learned this year. Most of all, I’m grateful for all the little tidbits about Jesus you bring home from school and randomly bring up in conversation. Things like, “Mommy, in heaven we will never die!” And “Jesus is the sun.” And “Jesus died on the cross for our sins.” And “Jesus is everywhere all the time.” And so many more. You get all those truths at home too, but to have them reinforced and celebrated in your primary social setting as well, it’s fantastic. There is nothing more important than knowing who Jesus is, what he has done for you, how much he loves you, and what that means about who you are in him. Nothing. I’m so grateful for a school and teachers who love the Lord and pass on who he is to you while you also learn your letters and numbers.

Faith has been there for you all year long. You two have become bosom buddies. It is really sweet to see you develop your own friendship, of your own choosing. The two of you found each other early in the year. Your friendship has been unwavering, and I’m sure it will continue through your school years. You grin at each other and you can see the love. Your first bestie. <3

June 2015 | Week Two| Chatterbox

This week Daddy and I keep looking at each other wonderingly when we hear the things you’re saying, Josiah. You’ve been talking for a while, but usually one or two words. This week it’s all been coming together for you and you are blowing our minds with the things you’ve been saying. Full sentences. Big words. Complex ideas. You’ll be a full-fledged chatterbox within the month I think. You also rediscovered your cowboy hats this week and have been opting for them in lieu of your usual conductor hats. I like the change, although you look cute no matter what’s on your head. The hat and pony, that’s all you. I didn’t stage it. You ride that stick horse around and say “yeehaw!!” It’s such a little boy cliche and so incredibly cute. But your love for trains and cowboys apparently hasn’t dulled your love for your sister’s princess heels. Those still make regular appearances on your little feetsies.

June 2015 | Week One | Two Peas

I just love watching the two of you together. You have become such good friends. Two peas in a pod. You miss each other when one of you is absent. You look for each other when both of you are home. Josiah calls you “Sissy,” Adela. I don’t think I’ve ever heard him call you anything else. You call him, “JoSIah” most of the time. Lately, there’s been a lot of monster play. You guys run away from imaginary monsters, hide, run out and pinch/slap/shoot (not sure where you learned the shooting bit) the monster and then run back and hide again. All over the house. For long periods of time. Many times you’ll pretend I’m the monster if I’m sitting at my desk working. You’ll run over and “pinch” me (really, pinch the air because you know what would happen if you actually pinched me) and then run and hide when I start roaring. It’s cute.
