Baby, you have been “almost” walking for about 6 months. No joke. You’ve done it so incredibly gradually that I don’t even have a date for “the first time” you walked. You’ve taken a step here and a step there, a half a step, a stumble, then a few more. But this week you are really going for it.
We kind of have to trick you into doing it. You’re a cautious little girl. Although you absolutely Can do it on your own, you usually won’t try unless 1) you’re really distracted by something, 2) there are large objects within your foreseeable reach to give you a sense of security, or 3) (something your Mima figured out) we trick you into thinking we’re holding on to you when we’re not.
Check it.
Overalls work best. We put our fingers under the straps and let you know we’re helping and then we gradually let go and you keep going. It’s baby training wheels!
You really get going sometimes. And the grass around here is wonderful (we’re vacationing at the beach in Carlsbad) because it gives you a nice soft place to fall as you invariably do. But you’re getting braver and braver every day. And you’re up to 7 or 8 steps at a time now.
We’re so proud, little one. Keep it up, little mover.
