We did a simple last-minute birthday celebration this year. I mad you some scratch white chocolate raspberry cupcakes, Daddy bought some balloons and Mima, Papi and Tia Carmen came over for burgers, presents and cake. It was great. Simple, unstressful, full of love and laughter (although we did miss Auntie and Granny and Grandpa!) And the next day we all went to Disneyland for your first visit to the happiest place on earth (those photos coming up in a later post).
You did amazing opening your presents. Last year you were a baby. You watched us rip a couple open, but you didn’t participate. This year you dug tissue paper out of all the bags, ripped paper and gasped at every new revelation. Seriously, we were all in stiches. I think you got a contact high from the rest of us who are so in love with you. And you put on a show, little miss. 🙂
Some gift highlights? Awesome books from the Tranmers (a real playable piano book, a puzzle book, books that came with necklaces), and also a tea set which you haven’t stopped playing with since that night. Tia Carmen got you a camera which you immediately took very seriously and snapped a photo of me when asked to do so. And she also gave you some party blowers which you figured out right away and found exceptionally entertaining. Between everyone you got a whole new wardrobe of clothes and jewelry. Me and Daddy got you a play makeup set (it’s all made of wood, and really cute), which you also love and have played with every day since.
After dinner we sang, and let you blow out a candle – which you did by yourself to my surprise. I warned beforehand that the candle was hot, not to touch it, just to blow. You looked at me very seriously, and then gave this face as you watched Daddy light it up. HAHA. Apparently I fostered some caution into that little mind of yours. So cute. And then, you blew it out! My big girl.
I can’t believe another year has gone by. I love you baby. I’m so glad you’re our girl.
Happy Second Birthday! And many more…
