Big Day – Pool Time!

Today you went swimming for the first time. It was over 80 degrees in the house and we were both feeling kind of stuffy (I know ’cause you told me) so we decided to head on over to Mima’s pool and give it a go. I slathered you in 5 million proof SPF, got you all decked out in your little halter top bathing suit (courtesy of your Mima) and sun hat (courtesy of your Tia Mary) and dove in. Well, not really. I was actually very kind and let you dip your feet in first veeeeeeeerrrry slowly, and – *boing* – up they sprang like two rubber bands. You looked at me like I was crazy, but I persevered. In your feet went again, 3 inches deep on the first step, and after a couple seconds of whining you looked like this.

Not so bad, right? But then, I tried to put your little legs in and you looked like this.
Your Mima did a great job of comforting you and trying to convince you that you were having fun. You put on a brave face and agreed to try again. So in we went, up to your little thighs. You tried to like it (I could tell), but your eyes gave you away. You looked like this.

Your Mima and I did our best to distract you but as soon as your buns touched the water, you looked like this.

We decided to stop torturing you, dried you off, and gave you your binky and then you looked like this.

On the way home, you fell asleep in about 1 minute flat. Over-stimulation. That’s my sensitive little ‘Dela Lane. We’ll try again in a month or so. Next time maybe we’ll make it up to your belly button.
