First…Trip to the Children’s Museum!

Hey Baby!

So every day it gets more challenging to keep you entertained and stimulated. You will play by yourself for short periods of time if I get you going, but like most people, you prefer for someone to be interacting with you. I’m having to get more and more creative. It’s a good thing. We all like new things. And you’re a little champ. When you’re exposed to something new it might take you a minute or two of thoughtful observation to make sure all is well, and once you’re off to explore to regularly look back to make sure someone you know is close at hand, but for the most part, you adapt easily to new challenges.

One new thing we tried last week was taking you to the Children’s Discovery Museum in Palm Desert. Mima and Tia Carmen came with us (Daddy was working). Despite the lady behind the counter’s warning that you were “still a little  young” for most of the exhibits, you had a great time. And so did we! Here’s just a few highlights…

They  had this crazy rope maze. We didn’t use it as intended. But we did learn about over and under. 🙂

You played with the blocks and the Legos.

And you quickly figured out that if you put the pall in the tube you could watch it spit out the other end.

My favorite spot in the museum is the mini grocery store. You got to wheel around a mini-shopping cart and put empty boxes of jalepeno poppers and plastic fruits and veggies in your cart. The funny thing is that you would only pull the cart, not push it. Haha… but you were a good driver in reverse.

You also played in their “Vet’s Office”, petting the stuffed kittens and doggies and putting them to bed in their carriers.  You sat on a Police Bike. And you played in the toddler area with a couple other little ones in a little wooden car. And of course you ran up and down the ramps, exploring and touching everything, looking out the kid’s-height windows. It was a good day.

We’ll go back in a year or 2 and you’ll enjoy it even more I think.
