My vision for DelaLane Photography is one that combines traditional, beautifully posed and composed Portrait Photography and unpredictable, raw and real Photojournalism. I am a Lifestyle Photographer with a serious love for portraiture as well as documenting real life, and I employ both styles in my shoots. I believe that we should have our cake and eat it too – the best of both worlds. The photos that truly move me are generally the ones that make me think outside the four corners of that singular image, that Tell a Story, or maybe even make me wonder what the story is. A look through the photo archives of Life, National Geographic or Rolling Stone prove in a minute that a simple posed head shot tell a story. So can the imperfection and chaos of a moment created by a precocious, uncooperative toddler or a wailing newborn. The bottom line for me is the story behind the photo – posed or candid, scripted or not, controlled or chaotic. Bring it on. As I learn and grow and change with DLP, the fuel that feeds the fire (and bakes the cake – to continue the analogy) is that end… of creating memorable photographs that capture faces, but also preserve real memories and showcase real life, real personalities, real relationships, real emotion, real beauty…<\/p>\n
