  • Hi! My name is Amanda. I'm Family Photographer located in the Yucca Valley/Palm Springs area and I want to Tell Your Story. My passion is creating story-telling photographs that capture Personalities and Relationships and preserve real memories. My shoots are on-location, relaxed and fun, and the kind of pictures I like to take will help you remember your life as it is today - the people, places, and things that are important to you - with the goal of communicating what you're like, not just what you look like.

Yucca Valley Photographer | We’re Expecting!

We’re super happy and excited to share that we will be welcoming our second baby in October!

I’ll be continuing to shoot on a limited availability basis until September or so (circumstances allowing), and will be going on maternity leave until at least February 1st. Because space for the rest of the year is limited, if you already know you’ll be wanting to book a session for a special event, your yearly family photos, Christmas photos, a new arrival, or any other reason sometime this year, I encourage you not to wait until the last minute to reserve your spot!

These are some last-minute self-portraits we took during a 15 minutes span of time at a park last month to help us commemorate the big news. It was fun to try and accomplish these type of photos with a tripod and remote and a two-year old. I’ll tell you what, I had to pull out a whole host of tricks to get my little one to look at the camera with no one behind it and actually smile. I was so proud of her. She’s such a good girl! And of course, I’m not opposed to using a little sweet bribery.:)

Thank you to all of you who follow our lives and share in our joy! We can’t wait to introduce you to our new little one later this year!

Beautiful and magical pictures! :)

Twentynine Palms Photographer | Teija & Trevor

When newlyweds Teija and Trevor contacted me about a session to make up for their lack of wedding photos, we had a lot of ideas about what the session might look like. I think we went through about 6 or 7 different scenarios, trying to decide what was the best fit for them. They wanted to capture their desert experience here, the beginning of their lives together as husband and wife (although not the beginning of their relationship, since they’re another couple of high school sweethearts! <3) and also to create some photos that they would be able to keep with them during an upcoming separation. We fit these photos in the week before Trevor ended up deploying to Afghanistan.

It turned out that most of our planning was for naught, since the weather was extremely uncooperative – first rainy, then cold, and very windy. We just weren’t sure if the weather was going to hold up and, because we had a deadline due to the impending deployment, rescheduling wasn’t an option. So I suggested doing an at-home Date Night. Much to my surprise and glee, Teija loved the idea. So even though the weather ended up being not quite as terrible as we had anticipated, we stayed in… in their first home. They made spaghetti, lit a candle, and had a romantic meal on their dining room floor – the place where their dining room table isn’t. And it was one of the sweetest things I have ever witnessed. This is what I’m always trying to convey to my clients when I encourage At Home sessions. The details of your home aren’t the most important aspect of your photo session. No matter where or what it is, even if you’ve only lived there a couple of months, haven’t had time to move in all your furniture, even if it’s a temporary home you had little choice in, it’s your home and there is something about At Home sessions that can’t be beat – at least from a perspective of sentimental value and emotional significance. And this home was perfection. And this night was romantic and fun and funny and so, so sweet. It’s probably my favorite session of the year so far. And that’s saying something, because I love what I do and I have a lot of awesome clients.

There’s just something really bittersweet about pre-deployment photos. It’s hard to beat that, especially when you’re dealing with young, nice, in-love newlyweds and it’s as close to the heart as this session was.

We spent a few minutes making up for their lack of wedding photos too, heading outside in the formals they said their vows in.

Teija told me a couple of days ago that she’s loading up Trevor’s first care package with these photos. I can’t tell you how happy that makes me, in a bittersweet kind of way. I hope you two find some comfort in having these photos to enjoy during the next months. I hope and pray that God keeps you safe, and that the time passes quickly until you guys are reunited and get to pick up where you left off. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. All the best!

Love it! You did such a great job!

Yucca Valley Newborn Photographer | Callan

Meet sweet little Callan. Born into a family of 3 older sisters, *he* was a complete surprise, the family choosing to wait to find out his gender until after he made his debut. Most definitely an exciting day for all of them when they found out there would be a boy in the family, besides Dad, after all.:)

He was such a sweet and cooperative baby, just 4 days old at our session. And he’s another one of my “Year in the Life” babies. I’m going to have the pleasure of watching this little one grow up over the next year as I commemorate in photographs the ways he’s changing on a monthly basis. It’s so fun to get to be a part of a little one’s life like that, to watch him grow up, and gain new skills, and become a little boy with a unique personality. I can’t wait!

Yucca Valley Newborn Photographer | Kelby

The C. Family has the coolest house, retro-modern awesomeness. Warm, inviting, colorful. I love colorful homes. Every time I’m in one, it makes me want to add more pop to my own living space. Our session in their awesome home was in honor of the addition of little Kelby and (and of course new big sister Kaelyn). I always recommend at home sessions to my clients. They’re challenging, it’s true. I never know what kind of light I’m walking into. At home sessions aren’t as easy as at-the-park sessions where you know you’re going to have pretty backgrounds and plenty of light and things are more predictable. But at home sessions are always unique. That’s the great thing about them. Every family’s home is unique, a direct reflection of them, their style, their favorite things, their life experiences, what’s important to them as individuals and as a family unit. It’s the home of their children. Pictures like these help kids know where they came from. I think that is AWESOME. A heritage, a treasure that they get to have passed down to them. I’m a big fan. Can you tell?:)

We incorporated their space, their dog, Kaelyn’s favorite outdoor activity (see below), the kids’ cool half green and pink bedroom with handmade (by Mom) quilts. We captured the kids as individuals and as part of their family, in their room, in their home. We captured Daddy/Daughter board game time when Kelby needed some extra attention from Mom. And some of the first moments Kaelyn experienced holding her new little brother. Precious moments.

Congratulations on becoming a foursome, C. Family! Thanks for letting me being a small part.

WOW! LOVE THIS! These are so great! Love how well you got all of them in the first image! I also love how happy and full of life the big sister is. You captured her so well. Flawless newborn pics too.

I am in the blog process of saying a similar speech about at home sessions. I just tried to take my own kids into nature and it was a flop. The next day, I got some great at home shots and they had no idea I was snapping away. Being at home is so much more real than you can get anywhere else.
